What a great summer of Futbol de Calle!  We averaged almost 200 players per night, with kids from pre-k to high school coming out.  It was a great time, and hopefully everyone will come back out next summer as well.

Wanted to thank the following for their time and effort given to FdC:
 

*  Stephanie Broadhead & SMYS Board for getting Abby & Brianna to come visit us and talk with the kids. 

*  Gary Goodwin and Pat O’rear for coming out early, each and every session, to set up the fields and goals.  Without their help, FdC would not have been a very smooth operation.  Or less smooth than it was!

*  All those who volunteered to help observe games and get the kids started playing each night, thanks to you as well.  The kids got the maximum amount of playing time possible due to you.

Have a great fall, winter and spring season and we’ll see you all back out in June of 2010!

St. Mary’s Youth Soccer is going to kick off it’s 2nd year of "Futbol de Calle" (Street Soccer) this summer on Monday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm at Chancellor’s Run Regional Park. SMYS’s Futbol de Calle consists of pick-up style soccer games for players aged 6 and up, where everyone plays, all of the time, in small-sided games. There will be supervision by a few coaches, but it will be a relaxed atmosphere in which the players play for fun. The object of this program is to give kids unstructured soccer playtime with "silent" sidelines, similar to backyard games with their friends.

There is no charge for this program and the only requirements are that the players come with shin guards/socks and appropriate athletic attire (no jewelry or clothing with zippers/pockets) wearing either a white, or dark, shirt and water.

Parents please check the website (www.stmaryssoccer.org) before leaving to ensure the night’s games have not been cancelled due to weather.
